Phase diagram of the Mott Transition in the two-band Hubbard model in infinite dimensions

چکیده
The Mott metal-insulator transition in the two-band Hubbard model in infinite dimensions is studied by using the linearized dynamical mean-field theory recently developed by Bulla and Potthoff (Eur. Phys. J. B 13, (2000) 257). The phase boundary of the metal-insulator transition is obtained analytically as a function of the on-site Coulomb interaction at the d-orbital, the charge-transfer energy between the dand p-orbitals and the hopping integrals between p− d, d− d and p− p orbitals. The result is in good agreement with the numerical results obtained from the exact diagonalization method. Phasediagramfor the excitonMott transition in infinite-dimensional electron-hole systems
To understand the essence of the exciton Mott transition in three-dimensional electron-hole systems, the metalinsulator transition is studied for a two-band Hubbard model in infinite dimensions with interactions of electronelectron (hole-hole) repulsion U and electron-hole attraction −U . By using the dynamical mean-field theory, the phase diagram in the U -U ′ plane is obtained (which is exact...

متن کاملHidden critical point scenario of the Mott transition in two dimensions: Variational plaquette study
The phase diagram for the Mott transition in the two-dimensional Hubbard model is studied using the variational cluster approximation. Antiferromagnetic short-range correlations are found to substantially affect the competition between the metallic and the insulating state. Opposed to dynamical mean-field theory, the transition turns out to be discontinuous even at zero temperature although a c...

We investigate the ground state phase diagram of the half-filled repulsive Hubbard model in two dimensions in the presence of a staggered potential Delta, the so-called ionic Hubbard model, using cluster dynamical mean-field theory. We find that for large Coulomb repulsion, U >> Delta, the system is a Mott insulator (MI). For weak to intermediate values of Delta, on decreasing U, the Mott gap c...
متن کاملFirst order Mott transition at zero temperature in two dimensions: Variational plaquette study
The nature of the metal-insulator Mott transition at zero temperature has been discussed for a number of years. Whether it occurs through a quantum critical point or through a first order transition is expected to profoundly influence the nature of the finite temperature phase diagram. In this paper, we study the zero temperature Mott transition in the two-dimensional Hubbard model on the squar...
